About Coaching/Basics What is life coaching? Coaching is a confidential partnership between a professional coach and an individual or group that focusses on goals set by the individual or group. The coaching process, helps people to be clear what they want, to become aware of ways of achieving it and to create a set of actions towards their goal. It helps them to stay focussed and effective, to overcome problems that might arise along the way and to do it in a way that feels completely right for them. The goals are set by the individual or group and the
coach asks questions, makes observations and suggests techniques which
will clarify the goal, raise awareness of possible ways to achieve it,
and create a plan of actions. Coaching helps people to clear out the clutter of things that are sapping their energy and enables them to focus on the things that really matter to them. It is not just about what they want to do or have but also how they want to be. Could coaching help you?
If the answer to any of the questions above is yes, then coaching can help you. How does it work? Coaching relationships consist of a series of focussed conversations on the phone or in person. You come to the session with an idea, however vague, of what you want to achieve or change. The coach helps you to clarify what you want, how you might achieve it and to devise an action plan that you will carry out before the next session. Sessions last 1 hour and take place once a week or once a fortnight. A typical coaching relationship will last between 4 and 8 sessions. As well as telephone coaching I also offer face to face coaching in Central London and in Surrey. I coach some clients on-site at their place of work in a meeting room or private office. I meet other clients more informally at cafes or venues such as the Royal Festival Hall. Alternatively, I offer coaching at the following venues: Central London - Surrey - Getting Started Call (0845 0950 330) or email me to arrange your reduced rate no obligation consultation (£20 for 1 hour rather than my usual rate of £60). This is a chance for us both to see how we get on, to discuss what you want to achieve and to agree how we can work together to make it happen. This meeting is likely to last somewhere between an hour and an hour and a half. If you work in Surrey or Central London, I can either come to your work place or we can meet somewhere neutral if you prefer. If you decide to take coaching, I usually suggest weekly or fortnightly sessions of 45minutes to 1 hour. These can be face to face if a suitable venue is available or can be on the telephone if you need to be more flexible. Coaching relationships last anything from 4 sessions to 20 sessions depending on the nature of the change you want to make. We would agree a time frame in the initial consultation. Costs The initial consultation is £20 Subsequent sessions are charged at £60 per session. If sessions are cancelled less than 48 hours before the session full payment must be made.
